How can I create a custom theme for my wordpress blog?

I have to make a blog for my English class and all the themes available in worpress.com are boring!!! Help me customize it!!

You can purchase some nicer themes. Otherwise you need to be good with CSS.

    I had the same problem. Then I used one of the available ones and kept working on it until I added all the stuff that I wanted on it.
